The Course

You may have regretted giving up as a child, or are just looking to improve your posture, muscle flexibility and all-round health with the one of the most disciplined forms of exercise. Classes will be relaxed and informative providing a sound knowledge of basic technique. The course will be taught by Kristian Ratevossian and have great benefits such as Improving co-ordination, posture, toning the body, strengthening and lengthening of muscles and musicality.

It will be held in one of Dancework’s lovely studios in complete privacy with a small number of participants to ensure that you gain the most benefit possible from the 8-week course. Since 1982 Danceworks has been one of Europe’s leading dance studios with over 130 drop-in classes a week in Ballet, Contemporary, Commercial and World Dance. We are located in the heart of London, only a couple of minutes from Bond Street Tube opposite the iconic Selfridges main entrance.

Course content will include (but not limited to) :

  • Posture and placement work
  • Improve core strength
  • Basic steps
  • Turning
  • Footwork combination
  • Improve muscle tone in a long lean elegant way
  • Improve flexibility, all while dancing!
  • Barre work with basic easy to follow exercises to focus on correct technique
  • Centre practice, including:
  • Port de Bras
  • Adagio
  • Waltz
  • Allegro

About Kristian Ratevossian

Kristian graduated from the world famous Vaganova Academy of St.Petersburg. He attended the full program from 1980 – 1990 under the direction of Oleg Sokolov and Benjamin Zimin directed by Constantin Sergeyev. Upon his graduation, having received outstanding accolades, Kristian was invited to join The Bolshoi Griogorovich Company.

He has recently taught in the United States at the Kirova Academy for an ex principal of Kirov Ballet, Madame Jeanna Kirova. Other teaching posts are numerous and currently include some of the following: Nacho Duato, director of the Berlin Stattsballet, the Pavlova International Academy Bergamo Italy, the St. Peterburg State Ballet Russia and the NBA Ballet Company of Japan. All of the references for Kristian’s performances and teaching experience over the years are listed separately. 

He had the privilege of touring America extensively in his career with The Bolshoi, and performed “Golden Age” (The Bandit), Swan Lake, Nutcracker (soloist for Spanish dance Harlequin, Drosselmeyer), Cavalier in Sleeping Beauty, along with many other roles.

In 2013 Kristian was invited to teach master classes in Kurgystan by the Minister of Culture in order to impart the finer techniques of the Vaganova Academy for the final year students and the Kurgystan State Ballet Opera House dancers.
