Class Description

AKCT will be offering participants a fascinating insight into the Akram Khan Company’s practice and choreography. The company’s senior dancer Yen-Ching Lin will lead technique classes and repertory sessions that draw upon materials from the company’s repertoires iTMOi and Kaash. The aim of the workshop is to deepen the awareness of the body through elements like inner/outer space, speed and repetition.

Teacher Biography

Born in Taiwan, Yen-Ching Lin studied at the Taipei National University of the Arts and the London Contemporary Dance School (LCDS) where she completed the Postgraduate Diploma program in 2003 and obtained an MA in Contemporary Dance in 2007. During her studies at LCDS Yen-Ching worked with choreographers such as Maresa von Stockert, Charles Lawrence, Jonathan Lunn and Jan de Schynkel. She was a member of a post-graduate company Edge05, joined the Bern Ballet in 2006 and danced for Hofesh Shechter Company from 2007 to 2010. Since joining Akram Khan Company in 2010, she danced in Vertical Road, London 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony and iTMOi.
