Lois Greenfield began practising photography in the 1960’s, originally freelancing for counter-culture magazines in Boston. She has never formally studied photography and so taught herself as she worked. She found photographing the movements of dancers a particular challenge at first, but after mastering the art she became increasingly intrigued by her subjects. This lead to a prolific career in dance photography, with Lois working with both emerging talent and world famous dance companies. Lois is currently working on two exciting new collaborations: “Projected”, an interdisciplinary performance with the Argentinean choreographer and dancer Dario Vaccaro, and “The 18th Parrallel”, a film exploring the connection between dance and prayer in indigenous cultures around the world with award- winning filmmaker Jodi Kaplan.
