Anything Goes is a Musical with music and lyrics by Cole Porter. The original book was a collaborative effort by Guy Bolton and P.G. Wodehouse, heavily revised by the team of Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse. When British actress/singer Elaine Paige heard of the success of the 1987 Broadway production, she attended a performance of it and was determined to bring the show to London. To secure a place in the show’s cast, Paige decided it was best she co-produced the show with her then partner, lyricist Time Rice. The London production opened in July 1989 at the Prince Edward Theatre.

The story concerns madcap antics aboard an ocean liner bound from New York to London. A young man falls in love with a beautiful blonde. When he sees her being forced onto a luxury liner, he decides to follow and rescue her. He didn’t realise thought that she is an English heiress who ran away from home and is now being returned back to England. He also realises that his boss is on the boat and so he disguises himself as a gangster.
