Live Vibe
Hakeem created Live Vibe in London more than ten years ago. Since then, Live Vibe has been a hugely popular event at many of London’s leading entertainment venues, including The Spitz in Spitalfields Market and Sadler’s Wells. The concept has also been produced internationally, having been taken to Hong Kong and most recently, to Zimbabwe in partnership with the British Council.  1
UK- Live Vibe is a show, currently held at Rich Mix, which seeks to put diverse range of dance styles on stage. It offers opportunity to new dance companies. Emphasize must be on quality in movement and ideas. The roots of Live Vibe are in Hip Hop, and the audience often comes from this background, however it’s about showing to the audience other styles they might not come across. Each Live Vibe has a different theme to bring focus to the dancers’ work. With the most recent one being, Two’s A Company – each group was confined to choreographing a duet, but exploring what duet meant to them. Sami Russell, who teaches at Danceworks brought a beautiful piece, ‘Coexist’. The next Live Vibes are as follows: I Have a Dream, on April 13th, and Make It Happen – a two part Live Vibe across June and July. There will be a competition element, challenging dancers to collaborate with musicians and bring a short piece that they have created in a limited two week time scale.

International- Live Vibe made its international debut in December 2010 at the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts. Live Vibe Hong Kong was produced in partnership with Fake Frog Productions, following on from the vision of CEO Jessica Hefes. This interactive show featured dance acts, companies and performing arts schools from Hong Kong, all fused with live bands and audience participation. It was presented in dual language form, featuring Hong Kong’s very own actor and street dancer, Deegor, and the creator of Live Vibe, Hakeem “Mr Impact”.Hakeem also managed Live Vibe Zimbabwe in 2012. “The Zimbabwe experience has been the most fulfilling project so far of my 16 years in the dance industry. The process was not easy, but I realised it would not be as you had to initially understand another culture before instructing and carrying out the process you believe will have the most effect” Click here to read his blog about this amazing experience! This year’s LIVE VIBE features the sensational Philippine Allstars, two-time world hip-hop champions, along with some amazing local dance crews the 2nd and 3rd March.
