More people are seeing the benefits of the technique and want to understand it in detail. This class will focus on breaking down all the fortification studies and movement vocabulary so that students can progress to the next level class on Mondays (Horton 2, 5.30-7.00pm with David Blake Int/Adv Level). Heather’s class brings excitement and dynamic musicality to the Horton technique!
Heather M. Benson is an Atlanta, Georgia native, where she trained and performed with Norma’s Academy of Dance, The Atlanta Ballet Centre of Dance, and Total Dance/Dancical Produc/ons, Inc. She received a B.F.A. in Dance from The Florida State University, where she performed works by Jawole Willa Jo Zollar, Ar/s/c Director/Founder of Urban Bush Women, Anthony Morgan (former member of The Martha Graham Dance Company) and Gerri Houlihan (former member of The Lar Lubovitch Dance Company). Heather is a former member of Dallas Black Dance Theatre II, Urban Bush Women and Philadanco!, performing the works of Talley BeaRy, George Faison, Milton Myers, Christopher Huggins, Ron K. Brown, Dwight Rhoden, and many more. As well she has taught Horton and other techniques around the world whilst touring with Philadanco! In 2013, Heather was an original cast member of Apollo Theater’s (NYC) James Brown: Get on the Good Foot, featuring works by O/s Sallid, Ron K. Brown, Camille A. Brown, Thang Dao and Abdel Salaam. Since arriving in London, she has taught Horton at iAStudios, and as a guest instructor at Danceworks, Transform Dance and Ar/stry Youth Dance.
